Huawei announces P9 launch event

Huawei has announced the date for what will almost certainly be a launch event for the Huawei P9 smartphone.
The Chinese manufacturer has sent out notes to the press asking that they "save the date" - April 6 - for a London event that will "change the way you see the world."
This would appear to tie in with previous suggestions of an April 5 or April 6 launch date for the Huawei P9 smartphone.
Sat on top of these words is '#OO' - a hash tag followed by two Os. This would seem to signify the dual-lens camera set-up that has already been revealed in leaked images of the Huawei P9.
We're expecting the Huawei P9 to be the company's new flagship phone, with a premium all-metal design, a 5.2-inch 1080p display, an octa-core Kirin 950 CPU with Mali-T880 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.

It'll also have a dual-lens 12-megapixel camera, a USB Type-C connector, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a massive 3,900mAh battery.
The Huawei P8 was extremely appealing because it mixed a premium design with a mid-range price, which is always a compelling combination. Hopefully the P9 will improve its performance and software quirks this time around.

Huawei P9 with dual camera to likely be unveiled at 6 April London event

While many were expecting Huawei to launch the P9 in February, the company gave an MWC launch a miss, probably favouring an April 6 London event. This won’t be surprising as the P8 was also launched last year in London around mid-April.
The company has now started sending out invites to select media for an April 6 event, clearly hinting at the P9 with the dual camera system that we’ve all been hearing about. The invite includes a hashtag, #00, and reads, “Change the way you see the world.”
Earlier this month, prolific tipster Evan Blass had put out a post on VentureBeat giving the complete low down on Huawei’s upcoming P9 device. The smartphone is a successor to the Honor 6 Plus that surprised many with its imaging performance, thanks to its bionic parallel dual-lens camera.
The leaked image shows a glass front with slimmer bezels on the sides, but abnormally large bezels on the top and bottom. The back shows off the all-metal build and this is where we notice the dual camera set up on the top, along with a dual tone LED flash and laser focus module below it, all enclosed within a glass insert.
Confirming the specs, Blass had said that the individual who allowed him to get a short hands-on with the device also revealed that Huawei has a budget friendly P9 Lite, a P9 Max (or Plus) and even a premium model that packs in some premium hardware lined up.
Going by previous reports, one can expect the premium version of the P9 to sport Huawei’s own HiSilicon-made Kirin 955 SoC with 4GB of RAM. The regular P9 is expected to pack in a Kirin 950, Mali-T880 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The standard P9 is expected to feature 32GB of storage while the premium model will feature 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. The camera is expected to pack in two 12MP sensors with Leica optics. Both model are likely to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Huawei P9 Release Date: Tech Company Sends Invite To Launch Event, New Phone Expected To Have Dual-Camera Setup

The successor of Huawei P8 is set to launch next month, and rumors about specifications are already making rounds on the internet. Tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) predicted that the device is said to be launched on Apr. 6 and will hit the shelves on Apr. 9. To recall, the Chinese company launched the Huawei P8 last year on Apr. 9.
To corroborate Blass’ claims, Huawei sent out media invites for an event, which is scheduled to be held on Apr. 6 in London. It reads “Change the way you view the world”. This could mean, the upcoming device would have dual-camera setup as rumoured. Moreover, two circles were drawn on the top of the invite, which also hints that the handset might have more than one sensor, notes HT.
If the rumor turns out to be true, then it won’t be the first time that Huawei has included a dual-camera technology in the device. Honor 6 Plus has the same technology.
Last week, renders of the Huawei P9 surface on the internet, which stated the dual-camera technology and a fingerprint scanner. It is placed on the back of the device below the camera setup. It is worth pointing out that the final design of the device remains to be confirmed. Two separate leaks appeared online and both were by renders. One leak showed a square fingerprint scanner while the other showed a circular one.

However, the rumors about the hardware specifications were consistent. The Huawei P9 is expected to be powered by the company’s own processor- Kirin 950, coupled with 3GB RAM and it would sport 5.2-inch full-HD display. 32GB of internal storage and 3600mAh battery are included as well as 12MP primary camera with dual-lens setup from Leica optics.
Other rumors also claim that the Huawei would be releasing a premium version of the handset and it would have 6.2-inch display having a 2K resolution. The device will also have the same processor but 4GB RAM would be paired with it. The premium version may have 64GB of internal storage and a 4, 000mAh battery.
If speculations are to be believed, the Huawei P9 would carry a price tag of $289, whereas the premium variant would cost $627.
